| When Pat Phillips picked up a paint brush in a college art class 10-years ago the San Francisco resident never suspected art would become a full time occupation. | Nathan Kravits started painting at the age of 47, shortly after he retired from the U.S. Army where he was an artillery officer. That was 20-years ago and he hasn't put down his brush since. | Samantha Blessing is a Connecticut artist who likes to paint New England seascapes. "People everywhere in the world find something calming about looking at the sea. That includes me," she says, stating that the physical act of placing paint on canvas can be calming in itself. In warm weather she paints on location to capture the light. During inclements weather when she's confined to her studio she uses photographs to establish the correct values. Her website is www.herwebsite.com. |
| Tomako Suzuki is a life long resident of Seattle, WA and creates art on canvas and in photography. Every Autumn she travels the world looking for interesting, colorful venues. "Sometimes I use the photographs on which to base a painting. There are other times that a painting cannot reproduce what I've captured on film." She has a digital gallery at www.herwebsite.com. |
| Tom Russell of West Palm Beach, FL prefers to paint on location "in whatever weather is out there." He holds a degree from the Art Institute of Chicago. " For years I drew with pencil, offering only slight color here and there to enliven a work, but now I use a full spectrum when I paint in oil," he says. www.tomrussellart.com. |
