16”  x  20” .
“Horses“ by Dorothy O’Connor is from a photographic
series of thoughtfully composed scenes, combining
elements of still life and portraiture to produce
unique and evocative works of art.

As the artists further explains, “ It’s  from an ongoing body of
work about the Elements. where I’ll find one thing and start
building the shot around that ... The idea starts when I just pull
things from my imagination ... everyday life events that show up
in my dreams…stuff that you don’t even initially realize is
affecting you... BUT it is…then I work with an Atlanta
wardrobe/ props stylist ( Caroline Dieter ) and figure out how to
get what was in my head ...onto the paper. ”

The title is taken from James Baldwin’s Another Country. This is a solo exhibition featuring paintings,
wallpaper and video by the collaborative team of Bradley McCallum & Jacqueline Tarry. Their works reveal
the collective and often brutal memories of the civil rights era in America. They also portray the indelible
memories of racial injustice and how the passage of time attempts to mask these truths. The couple
examines the legacy of power and race in America, using archival photographs from the civil rights era.
